Proteus is a protein & calorie tracker for Android. Your food logs stay on your device — we operate no server and have no accounts. Proteus does, however, show ads, and ads involve Google collecting some information about your device. This policy explains exactly what stays local, what leaves your device, and what choices you have.
Your daily food entries, protein/calorie goal, saved default foods, and theme preference are stored locally in the app's private storage. This data never leaves your device except through features you explicitly trigger:
To delete everything, uninstall the app or clear its data in Android settings. Because we hold nothing, there is no server-side copy to request or erase.
Proteus displays a banner ad and, at most once per day on launch, a full-screen app-open ad. These are served by Google AdMob.
To serve and measure ads, and to detect fraud, Google and its ad partners collect and process the following — this list follows Google's own disclosure for the Mobile Ads SDK:
Google states these are used for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention, and that the data is encrypted in transit using TLS.
This information goes to Google, not to us. We see only aggregate, anonymous reporting (for example, "how many impressions yesterday") — never anything that identifies you or your device. Your food logs, goals, and presets are never shared with Google or any ad partner; the advertising SDK has no access to them.

Apart from ads, Proteus contacts the network only to look up information you ask for. Most food lookups are answered offline from a public-domain USDA FoodData Central dataset bundled inside the app — no request leaves your device. When a food isn't in that dataset, or when you save a default food:

These requests are sent over HTTPS and contain only the search text plus what the network necessarily reveals (such as your IP address). They carry no account, name, or device identifier from us, and are not linked to your food history. We do not receive, log, or store them — each service handles the request under its own privacy policy.
None. We operate no server, use no analytics SDK, and use no crash-reporting SDK. The only data collection associated with Proteus is Google's, for advertising, as described above.
Proteus is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any data from them. The app is rated for a general audience and its ad settings are not configured to treat users as children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date. Material changes affecting advertising or data sharing will also be reflected in the app's Google Play Data Safety declaration.
